During orientation check-in on Thursday, August 20 you will receive the printed orientation schedule, name tag to wear during orientation, and table tent for use when you attend your classes. Please dress casual for orientation on Thursday, August 20, and Monday, August 24.

School of Business and Economics (SBE) Orientation*:
|

Required for All New Students
|
All new SBE students are automatically registered for both days. A detailed schedule will be shared in next week's newsletter. Information and previous newsletters can also be found on the SBE new student's page.
|
SBE Orientation sessions will cover academic programs, career resources, case study and analysis, and community events that offer great opportunities to connect with faculty, staff, and fellow new students.

Brandeis University's Office of Graduate Affairs (OGA) Orientation:

The OGA invites you to their full-day, in-person orientation for all graduate students on Friday, August 21, 2026.
|

|
Students with previous background in a subject may choose to exempt from specific courses through an exemption exam. Exemption exams will be held on Monday, August 24th. Exams will be offered for the following courses:
|
- ECON 210a Intro to Probability and Statistics for Business and Economics*
- ECON 208f Managing Uncertainty in Decision Making*
- FIN 203a Financial Management
|
*Though both ECON 210a and ECON 208f cover topics on probability, the ECON 210a course is taken only by incoming MSBA and Accelerated MA students. The ECON 208f course is taken only by incoming MBA students. There is only one form to sign up for an exemption exam on the subject of probability. Please be sure to select the proper exam for your degree program.

This message contains important information, such as required first-semester courses and links for booking appointments. These messages should be read in detail and students should have a grasp on your program requirements before your first appointment.

Prior to beginning your program, it is important that you complete the following onboarding steps:

Health Insurance All students must enroll in the qualifying School Health Insurance Plan (SHIP) or waive the plan and report their own comparable health insurance coverage annually. The deadline to enroll or submit a waiver was July 1. For complete details on SHIP coverage and the enrollment and waiver forms, please visit the University Health Plans website.
|
International Student Visa Information If you are an international student needing an I-20/DS-2019, you should have received an email from the International Students and Scholars Office (ISSO) inviting you to complete the VIDOF in the ISSO Portal. Please contact ISSO (isso@brandeis.edu) with any questions.
|
Brandeis ID and Email Set-Up Your Brandeis Student ID was sent to you from our Admissions Team. Please check that email and use that assigned number to set up your account.

New Student Website In addition to emails from the OAASE, we will post orientation related information to the New Student Website that will help you prepare for your arrival.

Slack! You should have received an invite from Admissions to our Slack community. If you need an updated invitation to Slack, please submit this form to receive a new invitation. Slack is an online platform that allows you to post and view events, meet your peers and connect with departments at the School of Business and Economics.
